This is the “which is cheaper” question for people whose Notion workspace is 90% to-do lists. The answer is Todoist, by half, and the reason is scope — not that Todoist is better at what Notion does.

Pricing side by side

Notion Todoist
Free $0, unlimited pages, 5 MB/file, 10 guests Beginner $0 — 5 personal projects, task reminders, 3 filter views, 1 week activity history
Entry paid Plus $10/member/mo yearly · $12 monthly Pro $5/user/mo billed yearly ($60)
Team tier Business $20 yearly · $24 monthly Business $8/user/mo plus local tax billed yearly ($96), up to 1,000 team members and guests
Views Database views: table, board, calendar, chart, timeline Flexible list & board layouts, calendar layout, filter views
AI Trial on Free and Plus; full from Business Task Assist listed from Pro; Deadlines and Unlimited task counts
Documents Full editor, databases, forms, dashboards None — tasks and sections only

Pro at $5 per user per month billed yearly is half of Notion Plus at $10. Business at $8 per user plus local tax is still under half of Notion Business at $20.

The free tiers are honest on both sides

Todoist Beginner is genuinely free with real limits: 5 personal projects, task reminders, flexible list and board layouts, 3 filter views, 1 week of activity history, and email/calendar integrations. Five projects is a real constraint but not a joke.

Notion Free has unlimited pages but no collaboration once a second member joins, plus the 5 MB file ceiling. So for a solo user with a big wiki, Notion Free wins; for a solo user with five task lists, Todoist wins on focus.

What you give up at $5

Pro adds 300 personal projects, calendar layout, task duration, custom reminders, 150 filter views, full reporting history, Task Assist, deadlines and unlimited tasks. That is the complete task-management feature set.

What does not exist at any price: documents, wikis, databases with relations, forms, dashboards, project views with dependencies, or guests who read without being assigned work. On Notion, Business additionally brings Notion Agent, AI Meeting Notes, Enterprise Search and SAML SSO — none of which has a Todoist counterpart.

Verdict

Buy Todoist Pro if the work is a list. Five dollars, half the price, and a better task app.

Stay on Notion if the tasks hang off documents. A wiki page that owns the plan, specs and retro notes is the thing Todoist has no equivalent for, and its per-member billing makes the external readers free.
