The short version

Update 2026-09-26: the evidence asymmetry described below flipped. A same-day re-capture of typeform.com/pricing (both billing states, reproduced in two browser contexts) shows the tier digits now render in the page text: Basic 28 USD/mo yearly (39 monthly), Plus 56 (79), Business 91 (129). The tilde-hedged figures in this article have been re-anchored to page text — full capture evidence and the correction record in our Typeform pricing piece. Jotform’s own numbers were re-captured the same day with zero drift ($34/$39/$49/$99/$129 unchanged).

This comparison is built from the two official pricing pages, both captured on 2026-09-14: Jotform in both billing states (full numbers in our Jotform terms check) and Typeform in both billing states for our Typeform pricing deep-dive. It is a terms comparison — we did not build forms in either product.

One evidence asymmetry must be stated up front, because it is the single most important fact about comparing these two pages:

  • Jotform’s prices render as normal text. We captured Bronze $34/$39, Silver $39/$49, Gold $99/$129 directly from the card DOM in both states.
  • Typeform’s dollar amounts do not render into the page text at all. The card prints “USD” while the numbers are bound by a client-side component; our innerText/aria/data-attribute probes all returned zero price matches. The commonly quoted Basic ~$29 and Plus ~$59 are cross-tracked from third-party sources, not page-verified facts, and our live capture also found the plan renamed (Starter → Basic) and the free “10 responses/mo” number removed from the page. We deliberately keep the tilde (~$29) on every Typeform dollar figure below. (This sentence described the 2026-09-14 state; as of the 2026-09-26 re-capture the figures are page text and the tilde has been retired on the paid-tier rows.)

Given that boundary, the verifiable comparison is mostly about free-tier limits and plan shape, where both pages do publish facts.

Free tiers: two different kinds of small

Free tier (captures 2026-09-14) Jotform Starter Typeform Basic-era free plan
Forms 5 total unlimited forms
Monthly responses/submissions 100 the page no longer prints a number — only “a limited number of responses per month”; our 2026-09-06 capture showed 10 (marked historical in the Typeform review)
Payment forms yes, 10 payment submissions/mo not on free
Signed documents 10/mo —
Storage 100 MB, 500 stored records —
Branding Jotform branding on Typeform branding on
Conversational UX card-form mode native one-question-per-screen (the product’s signature)

Read this row by row rather than picking a winner:

  • If you run many forms with modest traffic, Typeform’s free structure is better: unlimited forms means the form-count wall never arrives; the response ceiling (historically 10/month) just keeps each individual form tiny.
  • If you run a handful of forms that need to actually collect, Jotform is far more usable at $0: 100 monthly submissions is ten times Typeform’s last-printed 10, payment forms work for the first ten transactions, and signed documents/PDF/widgets are in the free box.
  • Neither free tier removes branding or gives a custom domain, and both are demonstration- grade for a real business.
Jotform Bronze Typeform Basic (page-verified 2026-09-26)
Yearly price $34/mo (page-verified) 28 USD/mo (page text since the 2026-09-26 re-capture)
Monthly price $39/mo (page-verified) 39 USD/mo (page-verified 2026-09-26)
Forms / responses 25 forms / 1,000 submissions 1 user / 100 responses per the current card
Payments 100 payment submissions available on paid tiers
Branding removed removed (Branding removal starts Plus in our earlier capture row — verify on the live page)

Two honest conclusions:

  1. On yearly entry price, Typeform looked $5 cheaper ($29 vs $34), but that number could not be confirmed from Typeform’s own page in a 2026-09-14 browser. It is exactly the “~$29” hedge situation explained in our Typeform pricing article. (Superseded 2026-09-26: the page now prints 28 USD/mo as text — the gap vs Bronze $34 is real and page-verified on both sides.)
  2. On monthly entry price both cross-track at ~$39, but only Jotform’s $39 is page text. Jotform’s monthly premium over yearly is 14.7%; Typeform’s monthly/yearly relationship can’t be computed from the rendered page at all. (Superseded 2026-09-26: Typeform’s monthly 39 / 79 / 129 USD now render as text too, so both relationships are computable from page values.)

Product-shape differences worth the price conversation

  • Jotform is a forms suite: 20,000+ templates, widgets, approvals, PDF editor and reports, signed documents, payment forms at every tier (sub-limited), HIPAA from Gold ($99/$129), 50% nonprofit/education discounts printed on the page. The paid ladder is a volume ladder — same product, bigger box at each tier — and every tier below Enterprise is explicitly a 1-user individual plan.
  • Typeform is a UX product: the one-question-per-screen conversational format is the entire value proposition (third-party and vendor case studies repeatedly cite higher completion rates), and pricing is a response-volume ladder with per-form response pools — one popular form eats a plan’s monthly quota. Our review’s core caveat stands: the economics favor high-value, low-volume forms (lead qualification, surveys) over transactional volume.
  • Cross-product alternatives already on Toolproofs: Tally vs Typeform covers the unlimited-vs-capped free-tier axis in depth; Jotform vs Tally covers the box-vs-fair-use axis; Tally alternatives already contains an official-page Jotform/Typeform free-tier table captured 2026-08-30.

Who should pick which (terms-level)

  • Pick Jotform if you want the wider toolkit (payments, signing, approvals, PDFs), need up to 100 free submissions, or are a nonprofit/student (50% off). Watch the form-count ceiling (5 free, 25 even at Bronze) and the per-user structure.
  • Pick Typeform if completion rate on a polished conversational form is the whole job and volume is low/lead-gen. As of 2026-09-26 the pricing page’s numbers are page text again (Basic 28 / Plus 56 / Business 91 USD/mo on yearly) — but given the render history documented in our Typeform pricing piece, treat any dollar figure without a capture date, including ours, as due for re-verification at checkout.
  • Pick neither blindly from a listicle: Jotform’s numbers are stable and page-readable; Typeform’s exact 2026 prices are only available by running the page’s price component or through checkout — treat any article that quotes them without a capture date as stale by default.

No star rating: this is page-level terms analysis, not a hands-on build in either product.

Methodology & sources

  • jotform.com/pricing — captured 2026-09-14 in yearly and monthly states with a Starter card crop; all Jotform prices and limits here are page text from that session.
  • typeform.com/pricing — captured 2026-09-14 in Yearly and Monthly states with a three-probe text-layer test (innerText / aria-label / data-attributes): zero dollar digits rendered. Typeform price figures are explicitly labeled as third-party cross-tracked; limits and plan names are page-verified. Method detail and screenshots in our Typeform pricing piece.
  • Checked 2026-09-14. Pricing pages change; Typeform’s in particular hides its own numbers — re-verify before any budget decision.
