The short version

Searching for OpusClip alternatives throws you into five pricing pages that do not share a unit. We captured all five live today, 2026-09-24 — this is a terms roundup, no accounts were created and no clips were rendered, so no tool gets a score here.

Tool Meter Free tier Cheapest paid (as the page prints it)
OpusClip credits = processed minutes 60 credits/mo, exports die after 3 days Starter $15/mo (monthly only); Pro $29/mo, $14.50/mo billed yearly
Descript media hours + AI credits $0 plan, 1 hour of media Hobbyist $16/mo billed annually ($24 monthly)
VEED credits (AI actions) free plan, watermark on exported videos Creator $10/user/mo, “billed yearly as $116”
Klap clips generated none printed today (trial only) Basic $14/mo billed yearly, 100 clips/mo
Vizard upload minutes (per its own copy) free plan exists no dollar figure in the page’s static text layer today — see the evidence note

One sentence per row on what the meter does to the sticker price — this is the whole point of the page:

  • OpusClip: a 1-hour podcast burns 60 credits = one full Starter month (150 credits) at $0.10/credit. Volume is the cost.
  • Descript: you buy editing time (media hours) and AI credits on top — clipping is one feature among transcription, studio sound and avatars, so its clip pricing is bundled, not dedicated.
  • VEED: $10 looks like the cheapest subscription on the table until you notice the card also prints the true yearly charge: $116, i.e. $9.67/mo — the “$10” is the rounded display of the annual total, not 12 × $10.
  • Klap: bills per finished clip (100/300/1000), which is the friendliest unit if you know your output count and the worst if your input footage needs many re-generations.
  • Vizard: Vue-rendered pricing — the static HTML we fetched carries plan names (“Creator”, “Business”, “no watermark”) and renewal language, but no dollar amounts. We are not publishing numbers we could not read; a tracker-quoted figure would be a guess dressed as a capture.

What today’s captures confirmed about OpusClip itself

Re-capturing opus.pro/pricing for this roundup produced three independent points our OpusClip pricing deep-dive flagged as open:

  1. The $14.50/mo annual figure appeared again in the rendered page text on a second consecutive day (Pro card: “$29 USD $14.5 USD/mo”). Yesterday’s tiering of that number (server-rendered layer, first session) gains a new day-stamped hit; we still cite the checkout page as the contract.
  2. “Starter plan only available in monthly” is still printed verbatim — the monthly-only rule is durable, not a display glitch.
  3. The pack selector still renders up to 15 packs with “Contact us for more credits” — still contradicting the help-center cap of 2 packs / 4 seats we documented yesterday.

The discount-label sweep, extended to two more vendors

ToolProofs keeps a running ledger of what “Save X%” labels actually compute to on the same page (our cleanest example so far: OpusClip’s “Save up to 50%” = exactly 50%):

  • Descript: “Saving up to 35% over monthly plan” — the printed pairs give 33.3% (16/24), 31.4% (24/35), 23.1% (50/65). No tier reaches 35%; the banner is forward-looking, not realized. (Arithmetic ours; both prices are on the page.)
  • VEED: monthly-state math is not simply 12 × display — Creator $116/yr against the $12/mo monthly-state figure would be ~3.3%, but the page only guarantees the yearly total, so we report the totals, not an invented percentage.
  • Klap: “Save 50%” (yearly state). Today we captured the yearly state only; we did not toggle monthly, so we quote no monthly numbers for Klap and mark its discount label unchecked.

How to actually pick among them (terms-level)

  • If your unit is published clips/month and it’s small: Klap’s 100-clip Basic at $14/mo billed yearly undercuts everyone on a per-output basis — if 100 clips really is your ceiling.
  • If you also edit (transcripts, filler removal, captions you fix by hand): Descript is the only one here whose core product is the editor; OpusClip, Klap, VEED are generators around an export.
  • If you need no watermark and the lowest printed annual charge: VEED Creator at $116/yr is the smallest number any of the five pages asks you to pay this month for a clean export — OpusClip Pro yearly is $174, Descript Hobbyist $192+.
  • If you process long-form video at volume: minutes are minutes everywhere — OpusClip’s $0.10/min at Starter and Descript’s 10 media hours at $16 (≈$1.60/hour, ours computed) are the only two per-input costs we can state from printed numbers today.

Verdict (terms-level, no score)

The five pages agree on almost nothing except the format of the question (“AI turns long video into shorts”). The useful comparison is not $15 vs $16 vs $10 — it is which meter matches how you work: minutes in (OpusClip), hours in the editor (Descript), actions (VEED), clips out (Klap). Vizard stays on this list because its product page exists and plans are named, but we publish no price for it from a page that didn’t print one today. Nobody on this page was tested with a real video; every number is page-terms with a capture date.

Methodology & sources

  • opus.pro/pricing — Playwright capture 2026-09-24 (UTC), proxied headless session, full-DOM text dump; anchor assertions on $15/$29/$14.5/60/150/300/credits all HIT.
  • descript.com/pricing — same stack, 2026-09-24; default annual state printed $16/$24/$50, and the monthly figures $24/$35/$65 coexist in the same document (toggle labels “Monthly/Annual”, banner “Saving up to 35%”).
  • veed.io/pricing — same stack, 2026-09-24, Yearly state; per-user prices and yearly totals ($116/$257/$414) both printed on the cards.
  • klap.app/pricing — same stack, 2026-09-24, default Yearly state; clip quotas and “Billed yearly” labels on all three cards.
  • vizard.ai — static HTML fetched twice today (browser + curl). Plan names and renewal terms present; no dollar amounts in the retrieved layers — excluded from the price table on purpose.
  • Cross-references inside ToolProofs: OpusClip pricing check, OpusClip pricing deep-dive.
  • Arithmetic marked as ours: per-credit and discount percentages computed from the vendors’ own printed pairs; no third-party pricing tracker was used anywhere on this page.
  • Checked 2026-09-24. Pricing pages change; re-verify before citing.
