The short version
Captured from bill.com/pricing on 2026-11-02. BILL splits into two products with opposite pricing logic: one is free and makes money on payments, the other is a paid subscription whose price is not on the page.
| Product | Published price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Spend & Expense | $0 per user/month | Corporate cards, budgets, expense tracking, access to credit lines from $1,000 to $5M |
| Accounts Payable & Receivable | Paid subscription, priced per user - no number printed | Free trial available in most cases; payment fees apply regardless |
| Enterprise | Custom pricing | Enhanced security, multi-entity, custom needs |
The fee table is where the money is
Every payment method carries a published charge, and this table is the most useful thing on the page:
| You pay by | Fee |
|---|---|
| ACH / ePayment | $0.59 |
| Check (BILL mails it) | $1.99 |
| Virtual card | Free |
| International FX wire or local transfer | Free (exchange rate applies) |
| International USD wire | $19.99 |
| Instant Payment | 1.0%, $9.99 minimum, $100 maximum |
| Pay Faster ACH | $11.99 (same-day if scheduled by 10:00 am PT, next-day by 6:00 pm PT) |
| Overnight check | $24.99 |
| Two-day check | $19.99 |
Run the arithmetic on a mid-sized business paying 500 vendors a month by ACH: that is $295 in payment fees alone, before any subscription. Shift half of those to virtual card and the fee disappears, which is the incentive the table is quietly built around. The Instant Payment cap is the other detail worth knowing - a 1% fee with a $100 ceiling means large instant payments get proportionally cheaper, and anything under $9.99 costs the minimum rather than the percentage.
The subscription BILL does not print
The FAQ states AP & AR are “paid subscriptions priced per user, with a free trial available in most cases” and never publishes a rate. That is unusual for a public company in this category and it means the only way to model BILL is to request a quote and then compare it against the fee table - which is published, granular, and in practice a larger number than the subscription for payment-heavy businesses.
One line to look for in the quote: the page mentions “discounts for approver-only users”, implying that people who only approve invoices can be priced below full users. Ask for that explicitly; it is the single cheapest lever on the AP line for finance teams with many reviewers.
What the page does not say
- No AP & AR subscription price - per-user, quote only.
- No FX markup percentage - international FX wires are “free” with an exchange rate that is not published.
- No volume threshold where payment fees change.
FAQ
Is BILL free? Spend & Expense is $0 per user per month; Accounts Payable & Receivable is a paid per-user subscription, captured 2026-11-02.
How much does BILL charge per payment? $0.59 for ACH, $1.99 for a mailed check, free for virtual card, $19.99 for an international USD wire, and 1% for instant payments with a $9.99 minimum and $100 maximum.
Why is the AP subscription price missing? The page states only that AP & AR is priced per user with a free trial in most cases; no rate is published, so it has to be quoted.
Can approver-only users cost less? Yes - the page lists discounts for approver-only users, which is worth requesting in the quote.
